Merdeka 118, formerly known as Menara Warisan Merdeka, KL 118, and PNB 118, is an iconic 118-storey megatall skyscraper located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Rising to an impressive height of 678.9 metres (2,227 feet), it is currently the second-tallest building and man-made structure in the world, surpassed only by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 829.8 metres (2,722 feet).
This architectural marvel is not only a striking addition to Kuala Lumpur’s skyline but also a symbol of Malaysia’s growth, ambition, and modern identity. Developed by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), the tower was designed with both functionality and national pride in mind. It incorporates elements of Malaysian culture in its design while housing premium office spaces, retail outlets, a luxury hotel, observation decks, and more.
Strategically located near the historical Stadium Merdeka — where Malaysia declared its independence in 1957 — Merdeka 118 also carries symbolic significance. Its name, “Merdeka,” which means “independence” in Malay, reflects the country’s heritage and progress. Once fully open to the public, the tower is expected to become a major landmark and tourist attraction, offering panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur and beyond.
