At Sunway Hotels & Resorts, we recognise the importance of reducing our environmental footprint. Every night of hospitality contributes to carbon emissions. To complement our ongoing efforts in efficiency and sustainability, we’ve partnered with Saxon Renewables to offer a way to support certified carbon reduction & sustainability projects through a voluntary carbon offset programme.
HOW IT WORKS
Guests can choose to contribute a small additional amount during their stay booking process to support certified carbon projects. Here's how the programme works:
Tracking of Emissions
We are mindful of the emissions associated with each room night, including energy use, water, amenities and other essentials. Saxon Renewables works closely with us to monitor the estimated emissions per room.
Offering a Voluntary Way to Give Back
Based on these estimates, you're invited to add a small, optional contribution during booking to help offset the carbon footprint of your stay.
Delivering Verified Environmental Impact
Your contribution supports certified climate and conservation projects across Southeast Asia, from protecting forests and peatlands to advancing cleaner, low-carbon solutions.
Protecting Our Planet, Together
Your stay makes an immediate difference. Based on the emissions associated with just one night in your room, you can make a voluntary contribution during your stay's booking process that helps offset the amount, which is estimated to be equivalent to one of the following
- The annual CO₂ absorption of about 3 mature trees.
- Emissions from driving ~320 km
- 80 kWh of electricity in Peninsular Malaysia
These contributions collectively support four internationally verified climate action projects, including forest conservation, peatland protection, wildlife preservation and the shift toward cleaner transportation:
- Katingan Peatland Restoration and Conservation Project, Indonesia
- Kuamut Rainforest Conservation Project, Malaysia
- Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation in Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary, Cambodia
- Saxon EVolve Program – EV Charging System Grouped Project, Malaysia
